ABOUT KENTE CLOTH:  

Kente cloth originated in royal courts of the Ashanti Kingdom. Historically, it was worn by kings, chiefs, and nobility. Over time, it became more accessible to the public but the ceremonial importance remains.

The traditional weaving process involves narrow strips woven on a horizontal loom. The strips are then sewn together to form a larger cloth. Designs are created through complex, interlacing techniques.

Kente is worn for the installations of chiefs, weddings, funerals, festivals, and graduations. It is a marker of identity, prestige, and heritage.

We were intentional about producing kente sashes at the highest level, using exceptionally high-quality kente cloth that is handcrafted in Ghana and then shipped to Senegal where our team of artisans produces the sashes.
